Benlysta (belimumab) is a biologic therapy designed to reduce the activity of B-lymphocyte stimulator (BLyS), a protein linked to the abnormal immune activity seen in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). At Scottsdale Rheumatology Center, patients can receive Benlysta infusions in our comfortable, in-house infusion suite, administered by specially trained nurses under physician supervision.

Benlysta is typically infused over about one hour, usually every 4 weeks after an initial loading phase at weeks 0, 2, and 4. Our nursing team monitors patients closely throughout the infusion, and our physicians remain involved in overseeing treatment plans and adjusting care as needed.
Prior to starting Benlysta, our physicians review your health history and lab work. During your infusion, our nurses watch for any reactions and are trained to respond quickly. Please discuss the full risk and benefit profile of Benlysta with your rheumatologist.
